ABOUT

ABOUT

A community that cares and shares.

Feeding Laramie Valley (FLV) is committed to working toward creating a sustainable and equitable food system, and promoting food security throughout the Rocky Mountain Region—especially here in Albany County in Southeast Wyoming, the community we call home.

Since our founding in 2009, we work to fulfill our mission through increased food production, access, distribution, and educational efforts that encourage community-led food sovereignty. Feeding Laramie Valley grows our own fruits and vegetables, mentors and supports backyard gardeners, develops and helps with management of community gardens, and is deeply committed to partnerships with independent farmers. We share high-quality produce with individuals and families who need it, at no charge to them, with a special focus on elders, children and people living with disabilities and chronic illness. Every summer, we offer Kids Out to Lunch, a free summer lunch and activities program for all children up to the age of 18.

We can't do it alone.

Feeding Laramie Valley is an award-winning organization that has been deeply involved in community-led food systems projects across Wyoming, the Rocky Mountain Region and the entire United States, contributing to work that celebrates diversity and promotes collaboration, including partnering in several community-based action research projects with community leaders, the University of Wyoming and Cornell University.

How we share in and with our community.

Feeding Laramie Valley programs are dedicated to the mission and philosophy of sharing the best of what we have in order to create collaborative, community-led food systems that are sustainable, equitable and just.

DONATIONS NEEDED NOW MORE THAN EVER

Since 2009, Feeding Laramie Valley has been working to ensure food security throughout Albany County, Wyoming. Thousands of people living in our community do not have sufficient access to sufficient food, or food of an adequate quality, to meet their basic needs.

With the staggering rise in fresh produce costs, donations of all sizes to support our mission of sustainable local food security are needed now more than ever. Consider these financial support options that will help us share fresh produce every week to individuals and families living with food insecurity.

Feeding Laramie Valley Shares is a free, weekly program offering high quality, fresh fruits and vegetables to anyone who needs it. Each Shares bag contains enough fresh produce for about 3 days of the USDA daily recommendation for each person in the household. The value of donation amounts listed below are based on the average, direct wholesale cost of high quality produce. The produce we provide is grown and harvested in our own production gardens in Laramie, Wyoming; is purchased wholesale from local and regional gardeners; is donated by local community gardeners and farmers.

$5 • 1 shares bag for 1 person

$10 • 1 shares bag for a couple

$20 • 1 shares bag for a family of 4

$50 • 10 weeks of shares bags for 1 person

$100 • 10 weeks of shares bags for a couple

$200 • 10 weeks of shares bags for a family of 4

We offer many opportunities to get involved with our sustainable food security efforts.
