FARM AND GARDENS
We Keep On Growing!

Days in Growing Season
Not only are we committed to making fresh, healthy foods available to those who need them, we are also out to prove that communities can provide for the nutritional needs of their own members by showing that it IS possible to grow abundantly, even at high altitude and in challenging growing conditions. To this end, we are always experimenting with best practices in growing methods, including innovations like hydroponics and other season extenders, and prioritizing regenerative practices such as no-till, polyculture methods, and composting for a closed-loop food system.

Production Gardens
Our production gardens are located on both private and public spaces. They are farmed by a dedicated team of full time and seasonal staff volunteers. The produce grown is distributed to the community through the Shares program.
Our major production areas are a half-acre farm at the Albany County Fairgrounds and a yard-share within the city of Laramie. We also cultivate in-ground rows at our Community Gardens at Kiwanis Park in West Laramie and at our main office building at LaBonte Park.

Our Growing Methods
Our production gardens offer our farm staff the ability to experiment with a variety of growing methods. We prioritize building healthy, resilient soils through intercropping, low-till, laying compost and manure, and cover cropping.
In addition, we use a variety of season extension methods such a hydroponics, raised beds, hoop houses, and an innovative seedling starter shed!

Garden Research
We have conducted garden research projects to advocate for entrepreneurial local food projects and offer project support through community-based participatory action research. Our three major areas of research focused on: Gardens for Health Healing, which provides gardens in Albany; Food Dignity, a collaboration in mapping the most appropriate and effective roads forward for creating sustainable community food systems that build food security; Food Chronicles; and Growing Resilience.
Have Growing Questions?
We'd love to help! We have many resources to help both beginning and seasoned gardeners make the most of their growing seasons, especially at high altitude and in challenging growing conditions (short season, poor soil)! Please see the resources below or feel free to reach out to our staff at 307.223.4399 or info@feedinglaramievalley with any questions.
