Lunch is served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Summer is a time for enjoying the outdoors and our community; it is also a critical time for the academic and physical well-being of children. During the summer months, children can be at higher risks of food insecurity and mental health stressors. To address this, summer lunch programs can become a vital source of healthy meals and activities. Feeding Laramie Valley’s Kids Out to Lunch program offers nutritious and delicious meals to Laramie’s youth at no charge to them, while also encouraging them to participate in healthy and creative activities. Children will be both well fed and have a safe environment to enjoy the summertime. Menus and activities are planned and led by Chef Susan Izzo and supported by FLV summer staff, the Foster Grandparents program, and our dedicated volunteers.

Head Chef & Program Coordinator

Suzan Izzo

(They/them)

As a lifelong Laramite, I've been shaped by the beauty and complexity of the Rocky Mountain West for 17 years.

After earning my Chef diploma from the Culinary Institute of Barcelona, I returned to Laradise to pursue a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Sociology at the University of Wyoming, where I am currently studying.

My passion for addressing institutional inequalities began here, and I aim to blend this with my love for food and agriculture at Feeding Laramie Valley.

Through the Kids Out to Lunch program, I strive to provide delicious, nutritious meals to the community that raised me.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy gardening, exploring Wyoming's stunning outdoors, and painting.

Hays Bruce

(They/them)

I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and spent my youth between there and Oregon. From a young age, I helped my mom cook, working with recipes that had been passed down through generations. We often made Italian, Asian, and comfort food, which have become key components of my palate today. Some of my favorite foods are cured meats, cheeses, and any vegetable from the nightshade family.

When I started working at 15, I immediately gravitated toward plant nurseries, farming, and the food industry. This experience allowed me to understand how these fields are interconnected. Watching food that I planted from seed, nurtured all season, and then saw circulate back into the local food industry and my own home feels like magic to me.

I have a deep passion for cooking and aspire to share this love, making others' lives more enjoyable through simple, fresh, local food. In addition to my culinary interests, I am actively involved in the music scene, performing in my band "Bathtub Gin" where I play trombone and guitar. In my free time, I enjoy camping, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, making stained glass, and cuddling my cat, Slyce.

I am very excited to be a part of the Feeding Laramie Valley "Kids Out to Lunch" program and can't wait to build connections throughout the summer.

I am a Laramie native with a passion for food, cooking, and the community it creates. It is my dream to learn about every side of the food industry, from farming to plating, and everything in between. I am excited to be working towards a goal of spreading education, resources, and food to those who need it, in the Laramie community.

In my spare time, I enjoy baking, reading, drinking coffee, and playing with my four cats.

Kids Out to Lunch is made possible in part through funding from the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA also provides guidelines and inspects our facilities and program to ensure compliance with federal regulations, including food safety and nutritional requirements.

While the USDA funds help keep the program going, they do not cover all of our associated costs. Your donations help make sure we can continue to provide kids in Albany County with high quality homemade meals when school isn't in session!
